Snowy Tuesday Ahead

     As the warming trend continues through Monday, it will change by Tuesday. Highs in the 40s and 50s Sunday and Monday. By Tuesday, a cold front will move in the area bringing cold air from the the north. Highs only in the 20s and 30s on Tuesday. Light to moderate snow is expected on Tuesday as well. Accumulations stay north of Virginia and Maryland. No accumulations expected anywhere south of the Richmond area. It will stay a lot colder as the week goes by. Snow accumulations around the 2-4" range.  This includes; Leesburg, Front Royal, Manassas, DC, Baltimore, Winchester, and Staunton. Snow accumulations less than an inch includes; Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, and Richmond. The heavier snow is expected in the northwestern parts of Virginia, this includes Winchester and Staunton. 5-8" of snow expected in the higher elevations. Driving conditions maybe dangerous. The cold temperatures will stay below freezing until Friday. Winter Storm Warning is now in effect for counties in the northern half of Virginia. Winter Storm Watch is in effect for counties south of the Warning areas. Blowing snow will minimize visibility while driving. Roads will be snow covered.

Rainy Saturday

     Today, showers will be moving in the area this morning. As the day goes by, rain will start to pick up and maybe a few rumbles of thunder. Rain maybe heavy at times. Flood Watch remains in effect until 12am EST, Sunday. Dense Fog Advisory in effect for counties in Maryland as FOG still in the area. By tonight, all the rain will move out. Maybe a few lingering showers early tonight. Mostly Cloudy tonight dipping down to the 30s. 1-2" of rain expected in some areas, but mainly around half an inch in most areas. Dense fog down south near and around Richmond, VA. Reporting down to zero visibility. Rain today state wide, temps going up to the 60s today (Mild for this time of the year). Strong storms are moving in soon.

Rain/Snow/Freezing Rain throughout the Northern VA, Maryland, and PA

     This morning, a little rain, snow, and freezing rain fell throughout the area. Snow is now being reported in Hagerstown, MD. A mix will continue through the morning and soon change over to all rain. Temperatures will go up to the 40s today and any ice or snow will melt by around noon. Ice accumulations under "Freezing Rain Advisory" around less than 1/10 of an inch. Slow traveling commute Friday morning. Un-treated roads will be dangerous in the morning. Freezing Rain Advisory still remains in effect until 9AM EST Friday, January 10th.

Wintry Mix Watch

     Tonight, a cold front will move into the area bringing a light wintry mix late tonight into tomorrow morning. Freezing Rain Advisory has been posted for a great portion of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. This will effect the morning commute on Friday. This will include Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, and Roanoke. Dangerous driving conditions late tonight into tomorrow. Temperatures will dip down to the mid to upper 20s. Tomorrow, temps will go up to the upper 40s. Any ice will melt by noon. School closings & delays will be posted if any.
